Dystonia is the term for involuntary tension in the muscles, which can result in abnormal movements and positions of body parts and limbs. The neurologists estimate that there are approx. 3,000 who are affected by dystonia in Denmark. The Danish Dystonia Association is a nationwide interest organization for patients and their relatives.

Dystonia is a neurological disorder with a motor impact. The condition leads to abnormal muscle contractions, has many forms and is atypical due to a diversity of degrees of pain complaints.
The consequences in terms of well-being and work cannot be underestimated. The condition means a revolution in life plans, both for the patient and the family. The Belgian Association for Dystonia Patients wants to be a point of contact, information sharer and forum to break the social isolation and unfamiliarity of the condition.
