On Tuesday, 24 February, EFNA’s Executive Director Dr Orla Galvin contributed to the European Parliament’s SANT Committee Public Hearing on ‘Brain health: Policy challenges and opportunities to manage neurological diseases.’ Dr. Galvin took part in an expert panel, offering insights on the growing burden of neurological conditions and the urgent need for coordinated EU‑level action.
For EFNA and the wider neurology patient community, this event marks a significant step forward. The growing engagement of EU policymakers reflects increasing recognition of the need for a comprehensive, cross-sectoral approach to brain health.
Dr Galvin’s contribution ensured that the patient perspective- central to effective and equitable neurological policy- was strongly represented at this pivotal moment for European brain health advocacy. She used the opportunity to highlight the growing burden of neurological conditions across Europe and the unmet needs of our community, calling for strong action from our policymakers and progress on the much-needed European Neurological Health Strategy.
