European Conference on Post-Polio Syndrome, June 10-12

***EVENT POSTPONED***

The 3rd European Conference on Post-Polio Syndrome will take place in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain next June. The aim of this conference is to improve care for polio survivors who are confronted with post-polio syndrome and other late effects of polio.

This 3-day international conference is unique. It brings together polio survivors and patient union representatives, health care professionals from different disciplines, and researchers from Europe and worldwide, on an equal basis.

In plenary sessions and through interactive workshops attendants will be able to exchange scientific knowledge, learn from each other experiences and best practices, and discuss about strategies on how care can be improved for the approximately one million polio survivors in Europe.

There will be sessions aimed directly to polio survivors or health care professionals, but also many sessions for all attendants, to discuss the needs of polio survivors, the available care options, future research priorities and to explore opportunities for collaborations.

Although polio is now almost eradicated by the tremendous and combined efforts of Rotary International, WHO, UNICEF and the Bill & Melinda Gates foundation, 20 million people across the world are disabled as the consequence from having had polio.
