We are delighted to announce that EFNA’s Past President, Joke Jaarsma, has been awarded the title of Lifetime Fellow of the European Academy of Neurology (FEAN).

The award was presented at the EAN Congress 2025 in Helsinki, during the Presidential Dinner, by Prof. Elena Moro, President of the EAN. Prof. Moro remarked, “Joke’s inspiring leadership in patient advocacy has transformed how we work together in neurology. She is deeply admired and respected by neurologists across Europe as well as everyone else in the brain community—not only for her vision and dedication, but for her ability to unite diverse voices in pursuit of better care and understanding”.

This tremendous honour is even more meaningful for Joke and our community as she is the first patient representative to receive this distinction. Congratulations Joke, you are so deserving of this recognition!
