Österreichische Muskelforschung

In Austria, around 20,000 people live with a muscle disease, more than half of whom are children and young people. Even though research and development in this area have made great progress in recent years, there are still no effective therapies to cure most muscle diseases. Muscle diseases severely limit mobility and thus quality of life, often associated with a reduced life expectancy. The hope lies in research. This is exactly where Austrian Muscle Research comes in and has been supporting selected research projects to research muscle diseases and to improve the medical and therapeutic care of people with muscle problems for over 30 years – with the desire and goal of contributing to improving the quality of life of people with muscle problems. Muscle research also sees an important task in communicating knowledge about neuromuscular diseases and the current state of research. The target groups for this are “health care professionals” as well as those affected and their relatives.
