EFNA organised a pilot national workshop in Ireland on the topic of Pharmaceutical Pricing, Access and Reimbursement.
One of EFNA’s keynote initiatives has been patient training workshops at the London School of Economics [LSE]. The LSE and EFNA have worked together for four years to deliver training to patient groups on health technology assessment (HTA). Over this period, seven training courses have been developed and delivered.
In 2013, the focus shifted to ‘Pharmaceutical Pricing, Access and Reimbursement’ and two courses were held on this topic. A third will take place on May 13th and 14th, and registration is now closed.
However, feedback received from participants has highlighted the need for similar workshops run at a national level. These would allow patient delegates to apply this wider knowledge to their own countries – identifying the agencies involved and the criteria/processes applied nationally.
On April 16th 2014, a workshop was organised in the Science Gallery, Dublin, Ireland with speakers from patient organisations, industry, HTA agencies and academia. Almost thirty patient delegates from various disease areas participated and the feedback was hugely positive.
EFNA now plans to develop these workshops in other European countries and invites expressions of interest from national groups interested in working with us to make this happen.
